Weighing less than 10 pounds, the Smith-Corona Corsair Deluxe was built to compete with the ultra-portables of Japan, while retaining the mid-century style and features of the Smith-Corona brand.
 
Smith-Corona typewriters were favoured by writers such as Jack Kerouac, Sylvia Plath, and Ray Bradbury.
