THE MACHINE
A machine that epitomizes "Made in Japan." The Brother Opus 888 is an incredible entry machine into typewriters. Designed as part of an ultra-portable line, they require only minor care for long-lasting performance and reliability. 
 
Part of Brother's JP-1 family of typewriters, they are lovingly referred to as "engines" for their ability to rev' up your writing and greedily power through longer projects.
 
Unlike the ultra-portables of the West, Brother continued to manufacture many of their portables from metal. While slightly heavier, they have a solid frame that stands up to dings and scuffs, like the one on the side of this machine.
 
Personally, I love gifting Brother typewriters to newbies as their maintenance is pretty straightforward and their action intoxicating.
